Swimming and lollies

We went to the pool today with our friends and J, who is about Katies age.
They splashed around and jumped, with floaty rings on their arms. We had a really good time. No 'brown alerts' in the pool either, so that was a bit of a relief, especially since Dean had declared that if it happened, it wwas my turn to deal with it. Which was fair enough, I guess. But it was my lucky day. And everyone else's at the pool.

Since it is Saturday, we decided that she could have a tiny bit of lollies today. So we gave her some chocolate pastilles in a small bowl ("non-stops" there called). After eating them, she wanted more, but we said no. Then she goes out into the kitchen, gets a wee bowl, finds the lollies (by pushing a chair to the kitchen bench and moving a few things that they were hidden behind), and gives herself a refill.

We were quite impressed. Obviously we will have to hide them better next time.

Fun in the snow

Theres not a whole lot of snow here at the moment but still plenty of fun to be had! Katie caught up with her mate J and swept all the snow off the slide. When A and I told the kids it was time to go inside, they werent having any of that - the little buggers ran into the maze and then parked themselves in the middle of one of the climbing toys where we couldn't get to them easily! Don't know about J but it must have tired Katie out - she came up to me at 1830 and announced that she was off to bed!

Happy Katie is back!!!

Katie has been pretty much back to her old self again today. Sara had wrapped up presents for me in the bedroom while I was in the shower and given them to Katie to take to the kitchen. I came out of the bathroom and was shown a couple of packets and solemly instucted by Katie to "dont't open now, open soon". Some of the cellotape was starting to look fairly chewed by this stage! Katie wasnt too keen to actually hand over the presents but was more than willing to help unwrap them at the kitchen table.

Kindy went well today. I dropped her off and bent down to say goodbye but she was already running away to hide under the slide with the other kids. Not bad considering she had very clearly stated that she wasnt going to go to kindy today, go another day when we were talking about it early in the morning.

I decided to take her for a swim after kindy. Would you believe that the little bugger shat in the pool again! Might have to start feeding her blueberries the day before to plug her up in the future!

Katies midlife crisis....

Sara had a talk to one of the teachers at kindy today about the way Katie has been behaving lately. She has been really angry, throwing things around and generally not very happy. It turns out that there are a bunch of new kids that have started and that Katie is no longer one of the younger kids in her group. Hopefully it will pass and she will find her place in the group again soon.

On a brighter note she ate quite well tonight. Still has to check how the food tastes outside of her mouth before putting it in!

Note also that it is only the middle of the cucumber rings that have been chewed out...

Finally, here is Katie having a bit of a yarn about her day at kindy and showing how you scoff down raisens.

Dads Ski Team

Here is Dads ski team, helping to get the ski stand sorted out before waxing the skiis.

Angriest in Uppsala? Tangliest in Uppsala?

I have just cut little Miss Trouble's hair.
It wasn't easy.
At all.
She was constantly shaking her head. So cutting her fringe became impossible. Too many eyes in that area. So I just cut a bit here and there when I had a chance. I thought that if I do it for long enough, I am bound to statistically get different strands of hair each time, as long as I manage to catch the strands in motion. The trick is only to stop before it becomes too short.

We thought of taking her to the hairdresser's at first.
But we were afraid to traumatise someone in the process.
The poor hairdresser might never have recovered, given the mood Katie has been in, in the last few days.

Sour Puss

Katie has been really whingey the last couple of days. It doesn't seem to matter what we do. Hopefully it is just another short development phase and we havent hit the "terrible twos" a couple of months early...

One of the few times she wasnt driving us insane with constant moaning over the weekend was when we went to the swimming pool. The hydroslide was great and the adventure pool had plenty of toys to jump off and play with. It wasnt all fun and games though - A golden star has to be awarded to the makers of her swimwear for avoiding a "brown alert"! She seems to have an affinity for shitting in the pool. This is about the third time it has happened....

Our daughter the mechanic

In the weekend, I was sitting playing with Katie when a mate C rang up. Turned out the battery in his car was flat and he needed a hand get it started. I told Katie I was going to help fix the car and left. She was obviously thinking about it while I was away because when I got back she came running up to me and said in her funny little excited voice in a mixture of swedish and english: "Dadda fixar C's brrrillar (car), gue (glue) and skudriva (screwdriver)"

Katie's blog is launched!!

Welcome to Katie's blogspot.

As her parents, we will do our best to tell you about her escapades and adventures, so that far away seems a bit closer.

She is sleeping at the moment.
When she is awake at night, I want her to go to sleep so I can do stuff. Five minutes later, I miss her.
But she will most likely make short guest appearances tonight, she usually does.

We are being brainwashed by the Wiggles at the moment. Katie got a DVD with Nursery Rhymes sung by wiggly people for Christmas (Thank you!). She loves it.

I liked the ring-a-roses rhyme, until Dean told me it is about the plague. Now it is kind of ruined for me.

Katie prefers Miss Polly had a dolly, Incy Wincy Spider, Twinkle twinkle and a few other bits and pieces. She dances around like a mad wee person in front of the TV.
