Back Home (with a bit of a mishap)
After an exciting and interesting couple of days at the zoo, we have arrived back in Uppsala tired but happy. Katie was talking the whole way home about the different things that she had seen and finally went to sleep with about an hour to go.
We had to go into the supermarket to stock up on some supplies when we got to Uppsala. We thought she was a bit funny in the shop, being a bit dopey and lolling her head around. We found out why just after going through the cash registers... She was suffering from delayed car sickness - all over herself and me! We hadn't purchased any pasta or corn but she filled the shopping bag with it anyway!!!
Bit of a shame that the holiday ended on that note, but she was happily talking about feeding the camels grass when she eventually crashed out on the bed at home.

Need to sort out the landings!
The whole concept of putting your feet down first has eluded Katie thus far.

Communication breakdown
Katie loves playing with playdoh and usually gets to do so while we are busy making tea. It usually gets put up high on a shelf by the fridge when it isn't in use to save the mats, wallpaper, washing... A couple of days ago Katie pointed in the general direction and said that she wanted to play with a "potatis", which is swedish for potatoe. In her little head playdoh sounds an awful lot like potatoe which she has then translated into Swedish. We had no idea what the heck she was on about resulting in a very frustrated wee girl! Sara sussed it out later that night...
Friends of ours have just had a new addition to their family; a baby boy. A couple of days after meeting him, Katie announced that she would like an older brother... Good luck!

Circus
One of our friends got some tickets to the circus through work and invited us to join him. We had a great day out and both of the kids loved it. With all of the animals and acrobatic stunts you would think that our kids would have the makings for some very interesting memories... When we came home all Katie would talk about was the naughty clowns that hit each other. It took a while but when we finally managed to explain that they were only pretending she started talking about other things. Apparently J was most interested in the diesel generator wagon humming away outside!
All said and done, both of the kids sat still through the 2 hour long show enthrawled. Thats a pretty good indication of good entertainment!

Long time no see
Its been a while now since our last post - sorry about that. The first of May celebrations where a blast. We had a good feed with some mates and made the most of the warm weather. On our way home we could see bonfires all over the place. Katie was still wide awake at that stage and thought it was great fun to try to spot them throught the car window. We decided to go and have a look at one that had been organised nearby but as soon as Katie saw her bed she promptly declared "I dont want to. I want to sleep in my bed NOW!" It was 2200 so you cannt really blame her! She conceded to crawling into her sleeping bag and going in the pram. She was asleep within 2 minutes... Sara and I got to see the bonfire though.
Katie got some playdoh from us for her birthday. She hasnt really been all that interested in it (probably because it has been out of sight...) but she found it in the drawer the other day when she was out on one of her mischief missions and loves it. The bright psychedelic colours are quickly fading as they are mixed together, licked, droped on the floor, squished into food...
